Every day is an exceptional day .All our lives are neither stagnant nor separated. We are in motion , constantly in the process of Birthing -Living-Creating-Dying and then Re-birthing ,from generation to generation. Life is also creative in it’s duality as we at times experience periods of severe trials ,mild challenges and other unforseen obstacles. On other occassions, we celebrate with music, song and dance, innovate and achieve our goals. This last week was exceptionally sad for most of my friends , having lost two loved ones. It brought back sweet, sad memories of my late mother Grace Nduta Gathea (+1981) .May all those gone before us continue to rest in eternal peace. As l prayed ,l was reminded that loss can become more bearable if we can take moments to reflect on how abundantly they served on earth.Their smiles, love and helpful attitudes can give us more clarity. If we stop, listen, open our eyes and hearts,we will be able to see where we can contribute to finish the work they left behind. There is more than enough awaiting all of us to act upon and share. My mother’s legacy motivates me to bring awareness about the tyrannical menace of domestic violence and abuse. This is a global crisis that has not been given enough recognition.l know it requires courage but it is possible with strength from The Divine. Crisis:Homes are the first earthly ground for all toddlers.Unless we accept and act on the fact that most witnesses to domestic violence are innocent toddlers and children ,we will never know peace as adults. Moving in life as a child witness, adult victim of this oppression l am determined to give it my all as a legacy gift to my mother who underwent so much domestic violence despite the outward courage she portrayed. It destroyed her in the end.
